What Our Families Say
A Parent's Perspective - Lauren Vorster
Tree of Knowledge has been a life-changing experience for both myself and my children. My daughter was failing in a mainstream school in her home language and was extremely unhappy, crying everyday and overwhelmed with the stacks of homework, we actually suspected she had a learning disability. After just 1 week in Tree of Knowledge, she was thriving and a total different and happy child, she achieves extraordinary marks and we learnt she just needed a different approach to learning, her teacher Nici is absolutely amazing and the teacher who changed her life from overwhelming to safe and happy, plus she now learns at such a brilliant level and the curriculum is brilliant, safe and smart. Her brother joined her shortly after and my kids are in the safest and most happiest school they could be with a promising future!
What Kirsten and her staff have done for myself and my children can’t be measured to any account! Thank you!
A Parent's Perspective - Candice Abraham
Tree of Knowledge has been and is a blessing to our children and to our family. It is answered prayer. Kirsten and the teachers are kind, loving and go over and beyond.
They build up our precious children, teach them not only school work but teach them also about their self worth and nurturing growth in a manner that we as parents truly appreciate.
A Parent's Perspective - Suraya Kathrada
It’s been rare that I been able to recommend an academic institute of learning in these past few years in Middelburg, as we are limited for choices. However a friend told me last year about “Tree of Knowledge” and at the time I was looking into homeschooling for my daughter who wasn’t able to cope in mainstream schooling due to many different factors. A few months down the lane and I can confidently say I highly recommend Kirsten Jewitt (principal of Tree of Knowledge) and her amazing team of loving natured teachers who are always willing to assist. I have noticed such a difference in my child’s development, she is happier, more confident & she’s coping so much better. Seeing my child happy is one of the best feelings in the world. Thank you to all behind the wheel that drives Tree of Knowledge.

My son attends the Tree of Knowledge Tuition Centre.
After careful consideration, we have made the decision to join Tree of Knowledge in the 4th quarter of 2024. We were fortunate that Kirsten Jewitt and Vanessa Knop were kind enough to make room for our son. All of the teachers and students went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
Coming from an Afrikaans school, I wondered how my son would adapt and whether he would be able to comprehend and do everything that is expected of him, make new friends and settle in, since we have only started in the 4th quarter.
About a month later, my son’s teacher, Vanesaa Knop, had sent a video of how he was reading in English, my heart was filled with love and so much appreciation for the smaller classes and incredible dedication and individual attention from his teacher.
The proof certainly is in the pudding!
I have been thankful since day one for the opportunity to have our son attend a center where everyone is accepted, loved and appreciated. The kids start each day with praise and worship, and the teachers help the students take responsibility in a way that is respectful, uplifting, and not embarrassing for the students. The teachers have a genuine understanding and interest in every child who attends Tree of Knowledge.
In conclusion, my child is happy and has made many wonderful friends, enjoys going to school and does well with the curriculum.
It is truly an honor to be a part of the Tree of Knowledge family
A Parent's Perspective - Fransie Botha
As a mother of a child with special needs, I’ve navigated the complexities of a rare genetic disorder, specifically a partial chromosome 2q deletion. This condition is so uncommon that there’s no statistical data and research available, leaving me to rely on the expertise of geneticists and neurologists.
Embracing this diagnosis has empowered me to seek out tailored support and resources, like Three of Knowledge, to ensure my son receives the care and education he deserves.
My son is thriving at Tree of Knowledge, enjoying his time there so much that he didn’t want to come home. He even asked if there was school on weekends. I was relieved to see him happy and progressing well, and his occupational therapist was also delighted with his progress.
What sets Three of Knowledge apart from other special needs centres are:
- the calm and peaceful atmosphere
- the centre’s exceptional cleanliness, neatness, and tidiness create a structured and organized environment that is essential for special needs children to thrive;
- the daily planning, educational planning, and overall structure in place
- its academic approach. While many centres follow a DCAPS curriculum, which can limit a child’s future opportunities, Tree of Knowledge uses the Cambridge curriculum, specifically CambriLearn, which is an accredited and well-respected international qualification. This difference is significant, as it means that children who complete their education at Tree of Knowledge will receive a matric qualification that is recognized and valued, opening up more opportunities for their future.
I want to encourage other parents to consider Tree of Knowledge as an option for their child’s education. You won’t regret it. The school’s approach, combined with the dedication and passion of the teachers, creates a nurturing environment that allows children to thrive and reach their full potential.
The personnel at Tree of Knowledge are not just educators; they are integral members of our children’s special needs team. They collaborate seamlessly with occupational therapists, doctors, family members, and other specialists to ensure our children receive comprehensive support.
What impresses me most is their willingness to adapt and accommodate each child’s specific needs. They implement recommendations from specialists, and they do so with dedication and enthusiasm, never complaining or hesitating. This exceptional approach makes Tree of Knowledge an invaluable partner in our children’s educational journey.
